About My French Studio
Having taught French extensively to both children and adults, I have developed a strong and effective tutoring practice.
My goal is to help you or your student:
- improve competencies in spoken and written French
- develop a detailed understanding of French-speaking cultures and
- become confident to communicate effectively.
Over the past twenty years, I have tutored students from leading Melbourne independent and state schools, enabling them to achieve their preferred VCE scores. I have also facilitated workshops and classes in community kindergartens, as well as private and public educational settings.
My love of teaching stems from my childhood playing at being a teacher, armed with a piece of white chalk and a very large blackboard in my mother's classroom, while she spent countless hours preparing engaging and innovative activities for her students. Something I aim to emulate today.
While at secondary school in France I spent my evenings tutoring disadvantaged students and saw the difference that bespoke, differentiated teaching can make.
I hold a Masters of Teaching (Secondary), Victorian Institute of Teaching registration, a French undergraduate degree specialising in Français Langue Étrangère (French as a foreign language), and a Working with Children's Check.

My approach
My programmes are driven by recent developments in educational neuroscience and psycholinguistics and are anchored in the Victorian Curriculum and Australian Curriculum, with a focus on Explicit Teaching methodology and differentiated teaching to cater for all learner needs. Additionally, primary classes are inspired by the teachings of leading educators Maria Montessori and Célestin Freinet.
A bit about Freinet’s approach:
- The child is at the centre of the teaching practice
- Teaching empowers the child to develop as a whole person, as a social and socially-responsible being
- The class is open to the outside world
- The focus is on experiential learning La Méthode Naturelle and creativity
- Children learn by cooperating with each other
- The role of parents and carers is valued
- foster children’s independent and confident learning
- provide a prepared environment where carefully selected materials stimulate children
- teach by learning about the outside world. Learning about world cultures is part and parcel of the Montessori’s approach.
